Converting a Pinus plantation to a Rainforest in Kurunda Kanda, GalleKurunda Kanda is a small Pinus plantation owned by the Forest Department, which is about 22 acres in extent. This is the only remaining forest patch in Labuduwa, Karapitiya area of Galle. Biodiversity Education and Exploration Society (BEES) of Galle together with the Forest Department and Jetwing Lighthouse Hotel conducted several tree planting sessions at this site. Kurunda Kanda Daham School children, Priest of the Kurunda Kanda temple, villagers, Amana Bank, Colombo International School, and Sri Lanka army took part in this with many others.
